Prototype notes

An honest account of what this environment does and does not do.

What is real in this prototype

  • The full operating model: orders, devices, warehouse, dispatch, returns, exceptions, content and enrichment.
  • The Postage Saver decision logic, including cover shortfalls and promise risk, with the reasoning shown.
  • Role based views, so each team sees only the work that belongs to them.
  • State changes you make, held in this browser so the journey stays consistent.

What is simulated

  • Carrier rates, labels and tracking events use a fixed demonstration rate card.
  • Channel and accounting integrations show state and history but do not call live services.
  • Enrichment suggestions come from a fixed sample rather than live data sources.
  • No payments, refunds or customer messages are ever sent.

What production would add

  • A hosted database with row level security, so each user only reads the records their role allows.
  • Server side carrier and channel credentials, never exposed to the browser.
  • An immutable audit trail for custody, stock adjustments, refunds and published content.
  • Background jobs for rate refreshes, tracking updates, enrichment runs and scheduled publishing.
